Gilberto Avila

Gilberto Avila, PE, SI, FRSE, CGC is a seasoned structural engineer with extensive experience in forensic engineering and structural design. Currently employed at U.S. Forensic, LLC since March 2010, Gilberto specializes in evaluating the cause and origin of damage in residential and commercial buildings, focusing on issues such as wind-induced roof damage, foundation settlement, moisture intrusion, flood damage, and floor tile assessments. Prior to this role, Gilberto served as a Senior Project Engineer at DeSimone Consulting Engineers from January 2004 to March 2010, where responsibilities included structural analysis and design for high-rise, mixed-use, hospitality, and healthcare projects, particularly in high wind and seismic zones. Gilberto holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Miami and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo.
