Branch Chief, Defensive Cyber Operations at U.S. Space Command

Mark Javate, CISSP, PMP has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information warfare. Mark currently serves as the Branch Chief of Defensive Cyber Operations at U.S. Space Command, where they plan, coordinates, integrates, and synchronizes defensive cyber operations to support the command's objectives and mission.

Prior to their current role, Mark worked in various positions within the US Navy. Mark started their career in 2009 as an Information Warfare Officer and later assumed the positions of Team Lead for a Cyber Protection Team and Department Head. Throughout their time in the Navy, Mark gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in cybersecurity and information warfare.

Mark Javate, CISSP, PMP, has a strong educational background in the field of cyber systems and operations. Mark obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Cyber Systems and Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School, where they studied from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, they completed the Joint Professional Military Education Phase I program in Military Operational Art and Science/Studies at the U.S. Naval War College in 2014.

Prior to their postgraduate studies, Mark Javate earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Informatics from the University of Washington Information School, where they attended from 2005 to 2009.

Mark Javate has also acquired notable certifications to complement their education. Mark is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), obtained from (ISC)² in July 2023. In addition, they hold the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification from the Project Management Institute, obtained in February 2023.
