Grant Payton has held various roles in the agricultural sector since 1997. Grant began their career as an Agronomist with NZ Agriseeds Ltd in 1997. In 2002, they were promoted to Area Sales Manager with NZ Agriseeds. In 2007, they joined MyFarm as Head of Sales and Operations Manager, where they were responsible for overseeing the establishment and operation of up to 35 dairy syndicate properties. In 2022, they joined UBCO - Electric Adventure Vehicles as Director of Agriculture and Commercial, working within the NZ primary sector to develop market strategy for the successful growth of existing products and introducing new electric adventure and utility vehicles.

Grant Payton completed a Certificate in Horticulture from Otago Polytechnic in 1994. Grant then attended Lincoln University (NZ) from 1995 to 1997, where they earned a BCom in Horticulture. In 2018, they completed the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme from NZ Rural Leaders.
