Tom van Nuenen

Tom van Nuenen is a Project Scientist (Assistant Professor) at the University of California, Berkeley, where responsibilities include leading curriculum and workshops in data-intensive social science at the Social Sciences Data Lab. Research focuses on biases in Large Language Models. Additionally, Tom teaches courses in Critical Digital Humanities and Computational Social Science. Previous roles include researcher at REPHRAIN and research associate at King's College London, where studies concentrated on consumer consent in the AdTech industry and algorithmic discrimination. Tom has held teaching positions at various universities worldwide, contributed to editorial work at Univers, and holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from Tilburg University.
