William Marrs possesses extensive experience in the fields of neuroscience, bio-business, and technology development. Currently serving at UC San Diego since September 2025, William focuses on designing and building sustainable financial vehicles. Prior to this role, William held several positions at Scripps Research from June 2011 to September 2025, including Director of Licensing and Associate Director of Business Development, emphasizing technology transfer and commercialization. William's early career includes postdoctoral research on the neurobiological effects of cannabinoids and alcohol, as well as graduate studies on cannabinoid signaling at the University of Washington, where William earned a PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior after completing a BS in Neuroscience and Developmental Psychology at UCLA. Additionally, William contributed to the field during a tenure as a Summer Research Associate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, focusing on DNA sequencing and genomic analysis.
