Casey Hemmis

Casey Hemmis, PhD, serves as the In Vitro Pharmacology Lead and Principal Scientist at UCB, a position held since April 2019, building upon extensive experience as a Senior Scientist I and II within the company. Prior to UCB, Casey contributed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Utah School of Medicine, focusing on structural and biochemical studies related to deubiquitylases in the 26S proteasome and INO80 chromatin remodeler, as well as validating novel targets for anti-cancer therapeutics. Educationally, Casey completed a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, and Biophysics at The Johns Hopkins University and holds a B.S. in Biochemistry with a Secondary Emphasis in Criminal Justice from Juniata College. Earlier experiences include graduate research at Johns Hopkins University, research technician work at Penn State University, and undergraduate research at Juniata College, with a focus ranging from enzyme kinetics to structural studies of proteins.
