Catherine Douglas has extensive experience in engineering and education, currently serving as the Director of the UCLA Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity since September 2005. In this role, Douglas supports underrepresented students in UCLA Engineering through various academic and professional initiatives. Previous positions include Interim Director and Associate Director for Pre-College Programs at the same center, as well as Academic and Event Coordinator managing programs such as MESA and SMARTS. Douglas also served as Site Director for the SMASH Academy at the Level Playing Field Institute from 2012 to September 2021. Earlier in the career, Douglas worked as a Computer Operator at Allied Signal, maintaining NASA satellite data systems. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Applied Mathematics from Hofstra University and a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Norfolk State University.
