Robert Nussbaum, MD, currently serves as a semi-retired consultant and volunteer faculty member at UCSF Medical Center, where involvement includes the Cardiovascular Genetics clinic and Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program since December 2023. Nussbaum held the position of Chief Medical Officer at Invitae from July 2015 to January 2024 and has been the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board at OMIM since 2010. Prior academic roles include Professor of Medicine at UCSF from April 2006 to July 2015 and Branch Chief at NHGRI from 1993 to 2006, alongside membership in the NHGRI Advisory Council from 2012 to 2015. Nussbaum's educational background includes an MD from Baylor College of Medicine, an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, and additional medical training at Harvard Medical School and Washington University/Barnes Hospital.
