Lukas Achermann has a diverse and extensive work experience across various organizations. Lukas has been with UEFA since 2003, initially working as a Lawyer and later taking on roles of increasing responsibility. At UEFA Events SA, they served as the Head of Event Management, where they were responsible for establishing the Event Management unit for UEFA EURO 2012 and managing all related events. Lukas then moved on to become the Head of Event Services and Head of Events & Finals. In 2018, Lukas Achermann joined UEFA as the Managing Director of Business Affairs, overseeing a team of 24 lawyers and being responsible for all legal aspects of UEFA's commercial, corporate, operational, and technology activities.
In addition to their work at UEFA, Lukas Achermann has also held positions at other organizations. Lukas was the Head of Legal Services at FIFA, where they provided legal advice, managed legal proceedings, and took charge of projects related to the Arbitration Tribunal for Football and the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Lukas also served as the Manager of Business Affairs at Euro 2008 SA, a company owned by UEFA, responsible for organizing the UEFA EURO 2008.
Lukas Achermann's earlier work experience includes being a Legal Counsel at Swiss Life, where they drafted and reviewed contracts, participated in due diligence investigations, and provided legal advice in private equity transactions. Lukas also worked as a Legal Counsel/Gerichtsschreiber at a Criminal Court.
Furthermore, Lukas Achermann has served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at the UEFA Pension Fund.
Lukas Achermann holds a Master's Degree in Law from the Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg, which they obtained in 1995. In 1996, they pursued further studies at the University of Liège, where they received a Diplôme d'Etudes Spécialisées en Droit Européen in the field of Droit international et études juridiques internationales. Additionally, Lukas Achermann achieved admission to the Bar Association after completing their studies at the Supreme Court of Lucerne in 1998.
