Yi Luo Acas

Yi Luo, Ph.D. ACAS, has a diverse work experience with expertise in risk and reinsurance actuarial roles. Starting in 2004, Yi worked as a Java, C, and SQL Developer intern at Nuskin Enterprises, where they developed regression test suites and utilized JDBC for database access. In 2009, they served as an intern in Enterprise Risk Management at Beneficial Financial Group, where they recommended stochastic interest rate scenario approaches and presented findings to senior management. From 2010 to 2012, Yi was a contractor at Visible Equity, designing mathematical models in Java to optimize portfolio management for banks and credit unions. Moving on, Yi pursued a Ph.D. at Brigham Young University, working as a teaching assistant and course instructor for various mathematics courses while conducting research on stochastic calculus and option pricing models. After completing their Ph.D. in 2012, Yi joined BMS Group as a Catastrophe Modeling Analyst, utilizing modeling software and building analytical tools. In 2014, they joined Westfield Insurance as an Actuarial Analyst, taking on progressively more advanced roles, including Risk Capital Analyst. Yi's most recent position, starting in 2020, is as a Risk & Reinsurance Actuary at UFG Insurance.

Yi Luo, Ph.D. ACAS, has an extensive education history. Starting in 2002, Yi Luo attended Brigham Young University for a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, which they obtained in 2007. Yi then proceeded to pursue a Master's degree in Mathematics at the same institution, completing it in 2009. Building upon their previous studies, Yi Luo went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics from Brigham Young University in 2012.

In addition to their academic achievements, Yi Luo has also obtained professional certifications. In February 2019, they acquired the ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) certification from the Casualty Actuarial Society. Furthermore, they obtained their Ph.D. from Brigham Young University in August 2012.
