Brian Miller

Brian Miller is the founder and managing director of uFraction8, a successful spin-off company. Prior to this, Brian was an enterprise fellow at Heriot-Watt University and a graduate C&I engineer at Turbine Services Limited. Brian has also worked as an automation engineer at Lab901.

Brian obtained their enterprise fellowship through the Royal Society of Edinburgh and is passionate about translating the technology they developed during their PhD into a successful business venture. At Turbine Services Limited, they were responsible for producing designs and liaising with suppliers to ensure that long lead time items would be delivered on time. Brian also had the opportunity to work with the panel wiring team and see how the project progressed from design to production.

Brian’s experience as an automation engineer has been invaluable in their current role as managing director of uFraction8. Brian has used their knowledge and expertise to build a company that is at the forefront of fractional distillation technology. Under Brian’s leadership, uFraction8 has become a world-leading provider of fractional distillation equipment and services.

Brian Miller has a 2:1 BEng (H) in Mechatronics from Edinburgh Napier University, a PhD (Research) in Microfluidics and Biosensors from The University of Edinburgh, and is currently an RSE Enterprise Fellow in Commercialisation at Heriot.
