Simon Kaplan

Simon Kaplan is the CEO of APAC at [ui!] the urban institute since November 2015, leading efforts in data analytics and smart services for cities and large infrastructure providers. In addition, Kaplan serves as an Honorary Professor at Australian Catholic University and is a Task Force Member at Future of Place. Kaplan is a Board Member of SCTechIA - Sunshine Coast Tech Industry Alliance and played a similar role at Silicon Coast until December 2023. Previously, Kaplan founded North Shore Labs, focusing on accessible management consulting tools, and held director positions at NICTA, where contributions included industry transformation and research development. Kaplan also served as Chair of the Queensland Branch at AIIA and held executive dean roles at Queensland University of Technology. Kaplan earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town and is a certified coach from Results Coaching Systems.
