Dr. Saad Abbasi

Head Of Electrochemistry at UKBIC

Dr. Saad Abbasi has extensive experience in the field of electrochemistry and materials development. Dr. Saad is currently serving as the Head of Electrochemistry at UKBIC since May 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Cell Design Lead at UKBIC from November 2019 to May 2022, where they were responsible for designing and optimizing cylindrical and pouch cells, as well as conducting electrochemical and thermal modeling using COMSOL multi-physics.

Before joining UKBIC, Dr. Abbasi worked as a Senior Process Engineer at IQE from November 2017 to November 2019, where they focused on process engineering. Dr. Saad also served as a Senior Scientist at Nexeon Ltd from October 2013 to July 2017, where they led the Li-ion cell failure mode and expansion team and conducted R&D on lithium ion cells for the development of novel anodes and electrolytes.

Dr. Abbasi's earlier experience includes roles such as Sr. Research Scientist at Surrey Nanosystems from May 2010 to September 2013, where they pioneered nanoscale materials for the semiconductor and renewable energy industries, and Process Development Engineer at Qimonda from June 2006 to July 2009, where they developed processes for deep trench capacitors and gate stacks of MOS transistors.

Dr. Saad began their career as a Process Development Engineer at Infineon Technologies from November 2004 to May 2006.

Overall, Dr. Saad Abbasi has a solid background in electrochemistry, materials development, and process engineering, with expertise in lithium-ion batteries, semiconductor industry, and nanomaterials.

Dr. Saad Abbasi completed their Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas from 2000 to 2002. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the same university, which they completed from 2002 to 2005.
