Caroline Rae

Caroline Rae is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Deputy Head of News at the Department for Education since April 2024. Prior to this role, Caroline held various positions at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from January 2018 to April 2024, including Head of Internal Communications and Engagement and Acting Deputy Head of News, while also fulfilling the role of Chief Communications Officer during maternity leave. Earlier career highlights include serving as a Senior Press Officer and Press Officer at the UK Home Office from November 2014 to December 2017, and a Press Officer at the Independent Police Complaints Commission from April 2012 to November 2014. Caroline's career began as a Defence Industry Reporter at Jane's by IHS Markit and has included roles as an Editorial Assistant at Rugby Football Union and Reporter at Cavendish Press. Caroline holds a degree in History from the University of Liverpool, obtained between 2004 and 2007.
