Simon Whatley

Simon Whatley is a seasoned professional in service and interaction design with extensive experience in both public and private sectors. Currently serving as Lead Service & Interaction Designer at the Department for Education since November 2020, Simon has a diverse background that includes a role as Service Designer & Creative Technologist at Humane Design. Previous positions include Subject Matter Expert (UX) at FourthRev, as well as service and interaction design roles at the Government Digital Service, focusing on critical government initiatives like COVID-19 and Brexit. Simon’s earlier experience includes serving as Lead Service Designer at the Ministry of Justice UK and multiple lead user experience design roles across several companies, including Yoti Ltd, BrandFuel Ltd, and R/GA. Simon holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics from UCL and a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Exeter.
