Patrick Clarke

Patrick has day-to-day responsibility for managing the distribution of electricity to eight million customers in East Anglia, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and London. He is currently responsible for an annual budget of over £400 million and employs 3,600 people plus 2,000 contractors. He joined the industry in 1978 and has risen from an apprentice to an executive director over that period. Patrick has undertaken a number of significant senior level roles during the past 15 to 20 years and has been an executive director for the past 12 years, in roles such as Human Resource Director, Connections Director and his current role. Patrick has placed a strong emphasis on community investment for almost 30 years, especially supporting and mentoring young people to achieve their dreams. In 2005 he co-authored ‘Made in Britain’ a book majoring on inspirational role models from British BAME communities (almost 10,000 copies sold). He holds a Honorary Doctorate in Engineering, OBE, MBA and an MA.
