Igor Smelyansky has extensive work experience in various industries and roles. Igor started their career as a Tax Consultant at a Tax Consulting Firm, where they established and managed a part-time income tax compliance and consulting service. Igor then worked as a Summer Associate at Coudert Brothers, LLP, where they researched and analyzed legal and business data for major international corporations.
After that, Smelyansky joined Citigroup as a Summer Associate in the Global Corporate and Investment Banking division. In this role, they researched and analyzed financial data and built financial models for credit facilities and proposals.
Igor then joined Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a Project Manager, advising CEOs and top management of international companies on market entry, growth, and business development strategies. Later, they worked as a Director at Promsvyazbank, where they managed asset integration, mergers, and acquisitions.
At First Ukrainian International Bank, Smelyansky designed and led the successful merger of FUIB and Dongorbank, creating a top-10 bank in Ukraine. Later, they served as the interim CEO at the Thomas Cook - Intourist Joint Venture.
Igor then joined The Boston Consulting Group as a Principal, where they advised CEOs and top management on market entry, growth, and business development strategies. Igor also managed post-merger integration for a major oil and gas company.
Following their time at BCG, Smelyansky worked at KPMG US as a Director in the Deal Advisory practice, managing the deal negotiation and acquisition process for a merger between U.S. and international insurance firms.
Currently, Smelyansky serves as the CEO and Director General at Ukrposhta, Ukraine's National Postal Operator. Igor was selected for the position from among 49 candidates and successfully designed and implemented a turnaround strategy for the organization. Igor has been recognized in international publications such as the PWC Global CEO survey report.
Throughout their career, Smelyansky has demonstrated expertise in mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, market entry strategies, and business development. Igor has also gained experience in the banking industry and provided tax compliance and consulting services.
Igor Smelyansky has a diverse education history. Igor started their educational journey in 1992 at Odessa State Economics University, where they studied International Marketing. However, they transferred from Odessa State Economics University in 1997.
