Akila Gothandaraman is a Research Scientist at UL Renewables, specializing in high performance computing, fleet modeling of wind and solar generation for grid integration studies, and renewable energy forecasting since September 2013. Prior to this, Akila served as a Research Faculty at the University of Pittsburgh from August 2009 to August 2013, focusing on computer simulations and high performance computing consulting. Experience includes a Research Assistant role at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from August 2005 to August 2009, and R&D internships at GE Global Research and Analog Devices Inc. Akila holds multiple degrees from the University of Tennessee, including a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, as well as a Certificate of Achievement in Weather Forecasting from Penn State World Campus.
