Doug Barnes is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in automotive functional safety and embedded systems. Currently serving as the Functional Safety Engineering Leader at UL since January 2020, Doug previously held leadership and consulting roles at kVA USA from March 2013 to January 2020, where expertise in automotive functional safety was applied. Earlier experience includes positions as Software Verification Team Lead at Magna E-Car Systems and Senior Product Development Engineer at Chrysler, focusing on the development and verification of electronic control units (ECUs) and vehicle passive safety systems. With a solid foundation in software engineering from roles at various companies including DaimlerChrysler and Ford Motor Company, Doug holds an MBA from Oakland University and a BS in Computer Science from Western Michigan University.
