Barry O'Sullivan is a Full Professor at University College Cork, where Barry also serves as a Governor and Course Director for the MSc in Data Science & Analytics. In addition to academic roles, O'Sullivan holds a ministerial appointment as Chair of the National Research Ethics Committee for Medical Devices and is a member of the Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council under the Government of Ireland. O'Sullivan has contributed to European initiatives as an expert in the European Union Science Diplomacy Working Group focused on Geopolitical Challenges, as well as serving as an expert advisor for AI Watch at the Joint Research Centre and as Vice Chair of the High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence. O'Sullivan is also an Advisory Board Member for the AI Collaboration Centre at Ulster University. O'Sullivan earned a PhD in Computer Science from University College Cork and a Bachelor's Degree in Production Management from University of Limerick.
