Russ Carmical

Russ Carmical currently serves as the Sales Director for Genomic Applications in North America at Ultima Genomics since May 2025. Prior to this role, Russ held several positions at Illumina from March 2018 to May 2025, including Manager of Sequencing Sales Specialists and Sequencing Specialist, where responsibilities included technical product communication and customer engagement. Previous experience includes a position as Director of Sequencing and Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, along with roles as Director of Operations at Metanome and Assistant Professor at UTMB, among others. Russ has also co-founded AccuGene LLC and has a rich academic background with a PhD in Molecular Biology from The University of Texas Medical Branch and a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Dallas.
