Principal Scientist I at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical

Tim Ting Chiu has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. Tim Ting started their career at Performance Plants as a Research Assistant and then moved to the University of Notre Dame and Boehringer Ingelheim in the same role. Tim Ting later joined the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research as a Volunteer Consultant, where they conducted interviews and developed a strategic action plan. Tim pursued their Ph.D. at the University of Toronto, focusing on studying cellular signals related to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Tim Ting also developed innovative assays to assess biological responses. After completing their Ph.D., Tim worked at Allevio Pain Management as a Business Intern, conducting market analysis and establishing relationships with specialists. Tim Ting then joined Arbutus Biopharma Corporation as a Sr. Scientist, managing in vitro and in vivo studies for drug candidate development. Currently, Tim works at Ultragenyx as a Principal Scientist I, evaluating gene therapies and providing PK/PD support for preclinical and translational programs.

Tim Ting Chiu completed their education at the University of Toronto from 2007 to 2013, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Prior to that, they attended Queen's University from 2002 to 2007 and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Honours in Biochemistry.
