Brandon Metcalf has over 20 years of professional work experience. Brandon began their career in 1996 as a Computer Programmer at The University of Texas at Austin. Brandon then moved on to IBM Tivoli Software as a Software Developer in 1997. In 1998, they joined Nortel as a Software Engineer, where they were a major contributor to an object-oriented Perl system built on top of ClearCase. In 2009, they became a Lead Linux Systems Engineer - Enterprise Services at Rackspace Hosting, managing operating system level technologies and application level technologies. In 2010, they joined Nami Media as a Senior Systems Administrator, leading the operations team and managing an advertising bid engine platform. From 2012 to 2013, they were a Lead Web Operations Engineer at Quantcast, managing a public facing website and daily data processing on the petabyte scale. In 2018, they joined Karros Technologies as a Team Lead - DevOps and Gotransverse as a Director of SaaS Operations and Team Lead - Platform Automation. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Senior Site Reliability Engineer II at Umbra.

Brandon Metcalf obtained a BS in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin between 1992 and 1994 and a Minor in Chemistry from Stephen F. Austin State University between 1990 and 1992. In addition, they have obtained a Certified ScrumMaster\u00ae (CSM\u00ae) certification from the Scrum Alliance in July 2021 and an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA) certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in December 2019.
