Michael H. Hulme has a diverse work experience in marine operations. Michael H. started as a Mariner in the United States Merchant Marine, gaining experience in various types of vessels. Michael H. then transitioned to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District, where they operated hydrographic survey vessels. From 2011 to 2013, they served as a Research Vessel Master at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES). Currently, they hold the position of Director of Marine Operations at UMCES, where they oversee the Research Fleet Operations and is a member of the UNOLS/RVOC Safety Committee. With their extensive knowledge of marine operations and research vessels, Hulme brings valuable expertise to their current role.
Michael H. Hulme has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Physical Geography from UMass Boston, which they obtained from 1984 to 1986. Prior to that, they attended Mitchell College from 1978 to 1980, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) in Liberal Arts and Sciences. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained various certifications, including STCW and TWIC in January 2011, and multiple maritime certifications from USCG/NMC, without specified dates.
