Derek Johnson is a seasoned project management and engineering professional with extensive experience in leading diverse teams and managing large-scale projects. Currently serving as Lead Project Manager at UMD Automated Systems since August 2020, Derek oversees a team of over 20 members while handling a project load of 8-12 significant initiatives. Previous roles include Engineering Manager and Project Manager at FT Precision, and multiple engineering positions at US Yachiyo Inc. and Hyundai Ideal Electric Co., where Derek contributed to the design and operation of complex systems, including electric generators and plastic fuel tank manufacturing. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University, earned in 2011.
