Patrícia Alves-Oliveira

Patrícia Alves-Oliveira is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan since January 2024 and a volunteer at Open Style Lab, a nonprofit focused on accessible fashion for individuals with varying abilities. With experience as a Senior UX Designer at Amazon Lab126 from November 2022 to December 2023, Patrícia contributed to the character design of Amazon's first consumer robot, Astro. As a Co-Founder of Talking Robotics, a platform for discussions on robotics, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Washington between August 2020 and August 2022, Patrícia has demonstrated a commitment to interdisciplinary engagement. Educationally, Patrícia holds dual PhDs in Psychology from Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and Cornell University, alongside a Master's degree in Psychology from Universidade de Aveiro, and foundational education in Psychological Sciences.
