Rich Porter

Rich Porter is a seasoned development professional with extensive experience in major gifts and alumni relations. Currently serving as Senior Director of Major Gifts for the University of Michigan since January 2011, Rich oversees major gift initiatives across multiple states, contributing to significant fundraising efforts totaling $34 million in fiscal year 2024. Previously, as Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Emory University from August 2005 to January 2011, Rich achieved a record 137% of a $5 million campaign goal and played a key role in a $1.6 billion initiative. Early career positions included development roles at Georgia Tech Athletic Association, Auburn University, the University of South Carolina, the University of Georgia Athletic Association, and Seminole Boosters, Inc. Rich holds a BS and MS in Sport Administration from the University of South Carolina and Florida State University, respectively.
