Barbara Cooreman

Barbara Cooreman is a seasoned professional in sustainability and trade, currently serving as Program Lead Responsible Sourcing and Manager Sustainable Value Chain at Umicore since September 2021, contributing to the company's 2035 sustainability strategy. Previously, Cooreman held key positions at Hanover Communications from February 2018 to September 2021, advising on EU sustainability and trade policy as Associate Director and Head of Sustainability & Trade EU. Earlier experience includes environmental policy work for the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe and academic roles at the Europa Institute, Faculty of Law, University Leiden, culminating in a PhD focused on the intersection of global environmental concerns and trade law. Barbara Cooreman holds multiple advanced degrees, including an Executive MBA from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and LLMs from Maastricht University and University of Antwerp.
