Bert Swennen

Group Medical Officer - Group Director Health & Wellbeing at Umicore

Bert Swennen has extensive work experience in the field of healthcare and safety. Bert began their career as a General practitioner, working as a Family Practice Physician from July 1985 to September 1992. In September 1986, they joined Umicore as the Head of the Occupational Health Department, where they worked until December 2003. From January 2004 to February 2016, they held the role of Director of Environment, Health & Safety at Umicore. Finally, in February 2016, Bert Swennen became the Group Medical Officer and Group Director of Health & Wellbeing at Umicore.

Bert Swennen completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from Universiteit Hasselt (formerly known as Limburg University Center, LUC) in 1981. Prior to that, they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from KU Leuven in 1985. In 1993, they pursued a Master's degree in Occupational Medicine at Université catholique de Louvain. Additionally, they completed their secondary education at College Hasselt, specializing in Latin and mathematics, from 1972 to 1978.
