Jamal Annagylyjova currently serves as the Forest Biodiversity Officer at UN Biodiversity since December 2021. Prior to this role, Jamal worked as the Regional Liaison Officer for Central and Eastern Europe at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification from October 2011 to November 2021, focusing on representation, advocacy, policy coordination, and partnership building. From September 2007 to July 2010, Jamal was a Monitoring and Implementation Specialist at the Asian Development Bank, overseeing national projects related to Central Asian Countries Initiatives Land Management. Jamal's career began as a Researcher at the Forest and Rangeland Department of the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna, where work spanned from September 1996 to June 2007, with a focus on desert rangeland ecology and sustainable management practices. Jamal holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Universitaet zu Koeln, completed between 1999 and 2002.
