Luca Birigazzi

Programme Officer at UN Climate Change

Luca Birigazzi is an experienced Programme Officer at UNFCCC since June 2019, specializing in the coordination of technical analyses related to climate policies and GHG inventories for Parties under the Convention. Prior to this role, Luca worked as an International Consultant at FAO from May 2012 to May 2019, focusing on improving national forest monitoring systems and greenhouse gas inventories in tropical countries. Experience includes serving as an Environmental Researcher at Staffordshire University, conducting research on renewable energy sources, and working as a Forestry Researcher at IRTA, where research on genetic conservation of Mediterranean trees was conducted. Early career experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at COSPE, contributing to disaster prevention projects in Nicaragua. Luca holds a Laurea specialistica in "Gestione delle risorse forestali ed ambientali" from the Università di Firenze and a Bachelor Degree in Forestry from the same institution.
