Michele Francis, PhD, currently serves as a UNFCCC Roster of Experts for UN Climate Change and as a Soil Carbon Consultant for C4 EcoSolutions, focusing on quantifying soil carbon stocks in South Africa. In addition to these roles, Michele holds a Senior Lecturer position at Stellenbosch University, where research emphasizes nature-based solutions for permanent soil carbon storage and microbially mediated carbon transformations. Previous professional experiences include being a Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University, teaching soil micromorphology courses at the University of Lleida, and working as a Soil Advisor and Geologist. Michele's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geochemistry from the University of Cape Town and dual PhDs in Soil Sciences from Stellenbosch University.
