Moritz Weigel

Moritz Weigel serves as the Team Lead for Technology Support and Implementation at UN Climate Change since May 2023. Previously, Weigel held the position of Executive Director at African Energy Now from May 2022 to April 2023 and managed AfricaRising GmbH from May 2019 to April 2023. Additionally, Weigel was Managing Director at The China Africa Advisory from February 2016 to April 2023. Experience also includes roles as Senior Consultant on Climate Technology at UNIDO and Senior Research and Programme Advisor at the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. Earlier positions involved consultancy roles focused on South-South and triangular cooperation in climate change and renewable energy at UNDP and UNFCCC, among other notable assignments. Weigel's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Economics, International Relations, and Modern China Studies from the University of Cologne, complemented by various certificates from Columbia University and the World Bank e-Institute.
