Idun Rognerud

Idun Rognerud currently serves as an Associate Expert within the INC Secretariat at the UN Environment Programme, focusing on negotiations for a legally binding instrument to combat plastic pollution and providing substantive documentation for related processes. Previously, Idun was a Research Scientist at Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA), where responsibilities included coordinating a Scientists' Coalition for an Effective Plastics Treaty and managing a Norad-funded project on equitable participation in treaty negotiations while contributing to various research initiatives addressing the socioeconomic impacts of plastic pollution in the Asia-Pacific region. Earlier experience includes roles as a trainee in environmental engineering and water management with local municipalities, research internships focusing on water-related policies, and a solid educational background with a Master's degree from the University of Oxford and another from The University of Edinburgh.
