Archana Patkar is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in gender equality and human rights. Currently serving as the Head of Gender Equality at UNAIDS since May 2020, Archana focuses on the intersection of gender, sexual orientation, class, geography, religion, politics, and other inequalities impacting the HIV epidemic. Previous roles include Senior Coordinator at JUNCTION SOCIAL Advisory Services and Senior Advisor at the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council. Archana also founded a virtual development community for sanitation and hygiene professionals and held various positions within the sector since 1996. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Social Policy from The London School of Economics, a Master of Arts in French Politics from New York University, and a Master of Arts in Interpretation & Translation from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
