Fabio Kepler

Fabio Kepler has a diverse work experience, with roles spanning from 2009 to the present. Fabio started their career as a Developer and Researcher at Biblioteca Brasiliana USP, where they set up a digital repository and developed various solutions. From 2011 to 2018, they worked as an Assistant Professor at Universidade Federal do Pampa, teaching courses and conducting research in Natural Language Processing. Additionally, they served as the Manager of the Technology Transfer Office during their time there. In 2016, they joined INESC-ID as a Visiting Researcher. Since 2016, they have been with Unbabel, where they have held various positions such as Associated Researcher, Senior Research Scientist, and Staff AI Research Scientist. Currently, they serve as the Director of AI Research at Unbabel.

Fabio Kepler completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, specializing in Image Processing, Generic Programming, and Parallel Programming from the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria in 2003. Fabio then pursued a Master of Science degree in Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence from USP - Universidade de São Paulo, from 2003 to 2005. Fabio continued their education at the same university and obtained a PhD in Computer Science, focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Science from 2005 to 2010. During their PhD studies, they also had the opportunity to be a PhD Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and 2008, where they specialized in Natural Language Processing.
