Jay Cummins has over 25 years of experience in the GIS industry. Jay began their career in 1996 as a GIS Analyst/Programmer at Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc. where they developed software applications using Visual Basic and ESRI's MapObjects, AML scripts to perform GIS geoprocessing and process automation, and executable files using ArcObjects and VB. In 2003, they joined Surrex Solutions Corporation as a GIS Programmer/Analyst, where they developed cross-browser compatible web clients using the ArcIMS Java Connector and JSP, performed ArcIMS website configuration and optimization, and performed SQL Server database administration tasks. In 2004, they held two positions at the same time, GIS Programmer at Watershed Concepts and GIS Analyst/Programmer/Manager at Parsons. At Watershed Concepts, they performed code maintenance for released versions of the Watershed Information System (WISE) Application: Open System Inventory, Closed System Inventory, Scoping, and Administration, and developed code for future release of the Watershed Information System (WISE) Scoping Module and Open System Inventory. At Parsons, they developed cost proposals, generated project control statements, and reported progress. In 2005, they were hired by the County of Henrico as a GIS Manager, where they managed the daily operation and maintenance of ArcGIS technology in the Dept. of Public Utilities (DPU) including a versioned Geodatabase, which is DPU's primary data store for GIS data. In 2018, they joined CompassKey Consulting as a Software Architect. In 2019, they were hired by Outdoor Access, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. As of 2022, they are currently employed at Unboxed Training & Technology as a Senior Software Architect.
Jay Cummins attended Frostburg State University from 1992 to 1996, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Analysis/Planning.
