Dr. Thresa Hardy

Dr. Thresa Hardy has a wide range of work experience in the healthcare industry. Dr. Thresa is currently serving as the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer at UNC Health Rockingham since February 2023. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing nursing and operating functions.

Prior to that, Dr. Hardy held the position of Director of Quality, Accreditation, and Patient Safety at UNC Health Rockingham starting from February 2021. In this role, they focused on aligning performance improvement initiatives with the facility's strategic goals and implementing standard processes to meet quality indicators and patient safety goals.

Before joining UNC Health, Dr. Hardy worked as an Adjunct Professor at West Coast University from April 2020 to February 2023, where they taught nursing informatics. Dr. Thresa also served as an Accreditation Manager at UNC Health from September 2020 to February 2021.

From 2015 to 2020, Dr. Hardy worked at Novant Health as a Manager of Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance. Dr. Thresa'sresponsibilities included managing accreditation and regulatory activities, with a focus on women's and children's services.

Dr. Hardy also has experience in academia, having served as a Visiting Professor at DeVry University from May 2014 to May 2016, teaching in the Master's in Nursing Program with a specialization in Nursing Informatics.

In their earlier career, Dr. Hardy worked at Moses Cone Health System in various roles, including Medical-Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Clinical Nurse Educator. Dr. Thresa'sresponsibilities involved clinical education, research, quality improvement, and mentorship of advanced clinical nurses.

Dr. Thresa also worked as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty at East Carolina University from August 2009 to June 2010, where they taught and supervised master's-level clinical nurse specialist students during their preceptorships.

Dr. Hardy began their career as a Registered Nurse at Annie Penn Hospital, where they provided care coordination in the emergency department and also served as a charge nurse.

Dr. Thresa also gained teaching experience as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Rockingham Community College from August 2003 to June 2005, instructing nursing students in clinical settings and providing mentoring and grading support.

Dr. Thresa'searly experience included working as a Triage Nurse at Guilford Child Health, where they provided pediatric triage services and case management for Medicaid patients with complex socio-economic needs.

Dr. Thresa Hardy's education history begins with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, which they obtained from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1992 to 1996. Dr. Thresa then pursued a Master's of Science in Nursing with a focus on Education from East Carolina University, attending from 2003 to 2005. Continuing their education, they earned a Post-Master's Certificate in Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist from East Carolina University between 2005 and 2007. Finally, they completed their highest level of education, a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at The University of Alabama from 2010 to 2012, specializing in Nursing.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Hardy also obtained a certification as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the North Carolina Board of Nursing in October 2008.
