Octavia Charles

Octavia Charles has extensive experience in educational leadership and instruction, currently serving as the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction at Uncommon Schools since February 2013. In the role of Instructional Leader, Octavia manages a team of at least four members, overseeing content and data meetings, providing coaching, ensuring cross-grade level data alignment on network interim assessments, and facilitating both individualized and group professional development. Prior to this role, Octavia worked as an Elementary School Teacher at Harlem Children's Zone and as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher. Octavia holds a Bachelor of Science in Inclusive Elementary Education and Special Education from Syracuse University School of Education, as well as two Master of Arts degrees in Curriculum and Instruction from Teachers College, Columbia University.
