Maxwell Gomera is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainable development and environmental management. Currently serving as the Resident Representative of UNDP South Africa and Director of the Africa Sustainable Finance Hub since February 2024, Maxwell focuses on revitalizing township economies and creating sustainable youth employment through innovative approaches. Prior roles include Deputy Director at UNEP-WCMC and Resident Representative at UNDP Rwanda, where efforts were centered on enhancing wealth and work opportunities for Rwandans. Additionally, Maxwell held the position of Director of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services at the UN Environment Programme, managing a team dedicated to sustainable ecosystems. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agricultural Economics from The University of Western Australia.
