Amal Kasry is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the fields of basic science, nanotechnology, and engineering. Currently serving as the Chief of Section for Basic Science, Research, Innovation and Engineering at UNESCO since May 2021, Amal designs and implements programs focused on capacity development in research, education, and innovation. Previously, Amal held the position of Director at the Nanotechnology Research Centre at The British University in Egypt, driving strategic research initiatives. With a strong background as a researcher and educator, Amal has held various roles in esteemed institutions, including IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Cardiff University, and AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, contributing significantly to projects in biosensing technologies and nanotechnology. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Material Science/Biophysics from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, a Master's in Semiconductor Thin Film Gas Sensors from Ain Shams University, and a Bachelor's in Physics from Cairo University.
