Gustavo Merino currently serves as the Director for Social Policies at UNESCO, beginning in January 2024. Previous roles include leadership positions at TECNOLÓGICO DE MONTERREY, where Gustavo led the Public Policy Unit and the Public Policy and Health Initiative, and served as a professor in the School of Government and Public Transformation. Gustavo also held board member positions at Salveo Agro and American Industries Group. As Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Government at Tecnológico de Monterrey from April 2017 to January 2020, Gustavo contributed significantly to the institution. Additional experience includes directing the Investment Center Division at FAO and serving as CEO of Financiera Rural. In the Mexican government, Gustavo held key positions as Deputy Minister for Social and Human Development and for Prospective, Planning and Evaluation, overseeing various social development programs. Gustavo's academic credentials include a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School.
