Shahbaz Khan PhD, DSc is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in hydrology, water management, and environmental policy. Currently serving as the Director of UNESCO Beijing and Representative to China, DPRK, Japan, Mongolia, and the Republic of Korea since April 2008, Shahbaz also directs the Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific. Previous roles include leadership positions at the UNESCO Cluster Office in Jakarta and in the Regional Science Bureau, as well as positions at Charles Sturt University and CSIRO focusing on irrigation systems and integrated water resource management. Shahbaz's educational background includes multiple advanced degrees in engineering, environmental economics, and international environmental law from prestigious institutions such as the University of Birmingham and Imperial College London, contributing to a robust foundation in environmental and sustainable development initiatives.
