Tawanda Makawa

Tawanda Makawa is a seasoned communications professional currently serving as the Regional Development Communications Officer at UNESCO since September 2022, where the focus has been on developing an omnichannel communications strategy that significantly enhanced stakeholder engagement. Prior experience includes roles as a Communications & Program Specialist at ECODIT, where Tawanda created a communications strategy for the USAID Resilience ANCHORS project, and as a Communications, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at CARE International in Zimbabwe, supporting emergency projects and designing indicators for recovery initiatives. Additional positions include Programme Reporting and Communications Officer and Advocacy and Communications Officer at World Vision, as well as Senior Communications and Marketing Consultant at BTL Consulting Group, demonstrating a strong background in strategic communications. Tawanda holds a Master of Arts in Monitoring and Evaluation from Midlands State University and several other degrees in related fields, including a Master of Science in Strategic Management and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Media Studies.
