Astrid van Genderen Stort

Astrid Van Genderen Stort serves as the Chief of Policy and Capacity Development at UNHCR since August 2016, specializing in emergency services and policy development. Astrid has extensive experience with the United Nations, having previously held the position of Chief of the IASC Secretariat from April 2014 to August 2016, facilitating inter-agency coordination for humanitarian assistance. Prior roles at UNHCR include Project Manager for internal communications and Senior Protection Officer during the Syria refugee crisis. Astrid has also contributed as a Senior Gender Advisor and has acted as a spokesperson during multiple humanitarian crises globally. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in International Relations and Law from the University of Amsterdam, along with studies in Chinese language and culture at Beijing University.
