James Gray is an experienced child protection professional currently serving as the Chief of Child Protection at UNICEF since July 2017. Previously, James held various roles within UNICEF, including Child Protection Specialist and Acting Head of Office, where significant contributions were made to developing Myanmar's first social work case management system and leading emergency responses in Rakhine State. With a strong background in addressing the needs of children affected by armed conflict, James has successfully implemented programs and advocacy efforts in complex emergency settings, such as West Darfur. An academic foundation includes a Master's Degree in Political Science from Victoria University of Wellington and a Master's Degree in Child and Adolescent Welfare from Charles Sturt University, among other qualifications in child protection and language studies.
