Sonya Mara

Sonya Mara is an experienced professional in child protection and legal affairs, currently serving as a Child Protection Officer at UNICEF since August 2018. In this role, Sonya has focused on building strategic partnerships with government and civil society for integrating child protection activities, alongside contributing to report drafting and training delivery. Prior to UNICEF, Sonya worked as a Legal Officer at Suri's Law Practice from January 2016 to August 2018, where responsibilities included court attendance, legal research, and drafting various legal documents. Additionally, Sonya completed a legal internship at the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency in late 2015, which involved reviewing regulations and providing legal advisory support. Sonya holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of the South Pacific.
