Aurelio Maccario

Chief Lending Officer at UniCredit

Aurelio Maccario started his career in 2000, when he joined the Fondo Interbancario di Tutela dei Depositi (FITD) as a banking analyst.

He joined UniCredit in 2002 as an economist in the research department of Corporate & Investment Banking. He covered different roles until 2005, when he was appointed Chief Eurozone Economist.

In 2010, Aurelio became Head of Group Strategic Planning, within Planning Finance & Administration, also directly supervising the CEE division strategy.

In 2013, he moved to the Group Risk Management, with responsibility for Pillar 2 related activities and the monitoring of the consolidated credit risk profile.

From 2015 to January 2020, he was responsible for Group Regulatory Affairs. In this capacity, he defined the Group regulatory strategy and managed relations with the European Central Bank, the Single Resolution Board, the Bank of Italy and other competent authorities.

Starting from February 1st 2020, Aurelio has been appointed as Chief Lending Officer, responsible for credit activities, in compliance within risk management strategies, including underwriting, monitoring, recovery, restructuring and workouts.

He is a Member of UniCredit Executive Management Committee, of Bank Austria Supervisory Board and Zagrebačka Banka Supervisory Board (Croatia).
