Stephen Higgs

Assistant Chief Higgs began his fire service career in 1977 with the Salt Lake City Fire Department serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and Deputy Chief over fire operations. In April 2000 after 23 years with Salt Lake City, Steve accepted the position of Fire Chief with Midvale City Fire Department. In July of 2011, Midvale Fire merged with the Unified Fire Authority. Assistant Chief Higgs oversees the Fire Prevention Bureau and well as the EMS Bureau. Steve holds degrees in building construction and fire science. He has completed Executive Fire Officer Course work at the National Fire Academy and is a graduate of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government.
