Shawn Sech has an extensive background in health promotion and education, currently serving as the Director of Health Promotion and Planning at the Union County Health Department since September 2001, and previously held the position of Health Educator II. In addition to this role, Shawn Sech is actively involved in community service as the Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of University and a Board Member of the Union County Humane Society. Membership in Kiwanis International dates back to 1993, with participation in the Union County Leadership Institute occurring in 2009-2010. Prior experience includes serving as Program Coordinator at the Heinzerling Developmental Center from 1994 to 2001, and involvement with Circle K International from 1988 to 2005. Shawn Sech earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources with a focus on Environmental Interpretation from The Ohio State University between 1988 and 1993.

The Union County Health Department is located in Marysville, Ohio just 30 miles Northwest of Columbus. The Union County Health Department provides public health services for the approximately 52,000 residents of Ohio's third fastest growing county. The Union County Health Department is an agency of approximately 40 full-time and part-time employees that is committed to progressive and efficient service to our community. The Union County Health Department (UCHD) was created in 1919 in response to the 1918 flu pandemic. Today, the Union County Health Department is made up of four divisions: Nursing, Environmental Health, Health Education, and Administration/Vital Statistics. These divisions provide services directly to our residents as well as services that protect our community as a whole. UCHD's main functions are to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, promote health and well-being, and assist in healthy development. The mission of the Union County Health Department is to protect the health, safety and well-being of all Union County residents by providing quality public health services.
